Through large amounts of research, most current designs of gymnasium mainly focus on building function and aesthetics but not adaptability to climate, which ignored environmental quality. To improve, some researches of thermal comfort were conducted in recent years. However, current international standards were set up based on researches by America and Europe countries which were not applicable to our country. Besides, current researches mainly focused on recidences and offices, and thermal comfort range only applied to exercise with low intensity. So there is still a big gap in thermal comfort study of gymnasium and exercise with high intensity.Regarding to the problems mentioned above, the paper analyzed thermal environment in natural ventilated buildings in Guangzhou, thermal satisfactions of athletic people and thermal reactions of human body by material and field measurement, put forward a thermal comfort range applicable to hot and humid climate, evaluated impacts of architectural form on athletic thermal comfort and provided design recommendations. The paper included six sections: The first section: Introduction, which illustrated background, necessity and main content of the research. The second section: Theoretical basis and Parameter modification, which introduced theory origin, major factors, evaluation indexes and models of athletic thermal comfort, and modified some model parameters. The third section: Field measurement, which presented measurement methods including environment test and satisfaction questionnaires. The fourth section: summaries of field measurement and questionnaires, analysis of thermal reactions and proposal of athletic thermal comfort range applicable to hot and humid climate. The fifth section: Architectural form and athletic thermal comfort, which evaluated impacts of architectural form on athletic thermal comfort and raised advices on architectural form in hot and humid climate. The sixth section: Conclusion.
