At present, the requirement of tufting carpet is large in our country. And high demand with the tufting carpet equipment. But the tufting machine always backward or mainly depends on importing from other countries. In order to produce new varieties of carpets, enhance the competitiveness of domestic tufting carpet equipment, master the advanced core technology for carpet tufting machine and catch up with the international advanced technology in the main performance. It is the urgent needs to develop the new computer jacquard control system for multi-level loop carpet tufting machine.The tufting carpet machines’ working principle and route plan based on the tufting control system are introduced with a wide range of similar literature from home and abroad in this paper.The paper proposes discrete position control method based on the stepping motor to ensure the stepping motor’s yarn feeding synchronized with the spindle in each cycle. We studied and designed a high speed control system based on the stepper motor to improve production efficiency of the tufting machine. The paper proposes a distributed control system based on the characteristics of full repeat and multi-level loop carpet tufting machine.For the whole pattern, high speed and multi-level loop carpet tufting machine control system target, completed the hardware design and debug based on the tufting control system,which constitutes of the CPU module, network communication control, signal process of encode,drive and isolation module,etc. What’s more, completed the software design and debug,including design pattern generation and communication protocol of DCS.According to the mechanical properties of the yarn, analyzed the force changes during the processing of weaving. The forming reason of the tufted carpet stop marks were studied and proposed a method of compensating control according to the theories of stopped and restarted machine in the highest position.The paper completed control system equipment’s debug and production which constitutes of 900 stepping motors. The jacquard system has been applied on the factory after improved and its production have been exhibited at the 2015 DACF. The research effectively promoted thelevel of equipment technology in domestic carpet factories and it is also start a new research in this field of China. This research has important theory significance and practical application value to grasp core tufting technology. The development and research of tufting carpet jacquard control system may have reference value to develop other similar system.
