In recent years, in order to ease the global energy and environmental crisis, the use of renewable energy has been rapidly expanded. Wind energy is the most common renewable energy in human daily life for its wide distribution and other advantages. However, Wind power has the characteristics of randomness and intermittent, with the increasing unit capacity of wind turbines and wind farm scale, it is urgent to study on the problems of power grid accommodating regional multiple farms.Therefore, the research status of wind power at home and abroad is summarized in this paper, and based on the measured data of some wind farms in Jiangsu, the operating characteristics of wind farms are analyzed; the model of wind power correlation of wind farms in a regional based on M-Copula is done; short-term regional wind power prediction based on correlation is also analyzed; reliability assessment of power systems with wind farms considering correlations is conducted; and at last, a brief analysis of wind power consumption is done. The main contents are as follows:(1) Analysis of operating characteristic Jiangsu wind farms. Based on the measured data of some wind farms in Jiangsu, the operating characteristic of a single wind farm is analyzed. Then correlation analysis of a single wind power outputs for years and the operating characteristics of several wind farms in the same region are analyzed. The results show that wind power output has a significant correlation in the long time scale, while a clear complementarity in short time scales.(2) Wind power correlation analysis based on M-Copula. In this paper, M-Copula function is presented to reflect the relationship between wind power of the two wind farms, which is a linear combination of the Gumbel, Frank and Clayton Copula. Taking Jiangsu two wind farms for example, the results show that M-Copula function fit the correlation best.(3) Short-term regional wind power prediction based on correlation. Taking Jiangsu wind farms for example, a combination forecasting method is put forward. Based on the windy correlation model, the power predictive curve of several winds in a region can be acquired. Experimental results show that:the combination forecasting method shows higher prediction accuracy, and the correlation between wind farms has a great influence on windy power forecast.(4) Reliability assessment of power systems with wind farms considering correlations. In this paper, IEEE-RTS 79 reliability test system is adopted to verify the reliability assessment of power systems integrated with wind farms. The experimental results show that:the reliability has been greatly improved when adding wind turbines to the system; the system has higher reliability with given the considering the correlation between wind farms. In addition, Wind power consumption has become a key issue affecting the healthy development of Chinese wind power. The counter-peaking characteristic of wind power output is analyzed at first; Analysis of the causes of wind power consumption is done; Effective measures and recommendations are put forward.
