Along with rapid economic growth, energy consumption and air pollution have become severer than ever before, which leads to an increased haze problem. Haze is found to be closely associated to massive consumption of coal, especially consumption in coal-fired plant. Traditional air quality monitoring system is ineffective, and a design of new system constitute most significance. This system is designed to adopt Zig Bee close-distant wireless communication and GSM long-distant wireless communication based upon a careful consideration of system practice reality and environmental protection need. The successful design of this system is of great significance in supplementing Industry 4.0. This paper mainly discusses:At first, the system is designed based upon practical monitoring of coal-fired plant, and major functioning modudle is stated, hardware designed. Hardware design in Zig Bee module includes Zig Bee chip selection, CC2530 core circuit design, power supply design, simulator interface circuit design and USB serial circuit design. Hardware design in gateway controller module include chip selection, STM32 core circuit design, and JTAG debug interface design. Hardware design in GSM module includes GSM chip selection, SIM900 A core circuit design, and supply power design. Hardware design in sensor module includes sensor selection, PM2.5 dust sensor periphery circuit design, temperature and humidity sensor circuit and smoke sensor circuit design.Next, for the whole system, software is designed. For instance, software design of terminal node main procedure, serial communication and data sending have been fulfilled in Zig Bee terminal node. Software design of temperature and humidity sensor and smoke sensor have been fulfilled to assist sensor data collection. Other designs including coordinator main procedure design, gateway controller main procedure design and GSM message-sending software design have been completed.Finally, the entire system has been carried on the laboratory operation tests and field installation test. The normal operation of the system indicates the correctness and feasibility of the design.
