Debris flow is the highest frequency in recent years, one of the most serious mountain natural disasters. Debris flow outbreaks suddenly, briefly, greatly, ferociously, to the mountain people’s production and life, and brings huge losses, especially to the destruction of buildings, a great threat to the safety of people’s life and property. Masonry structure is one of the most popular architectures in the mountain area. Therefore, it is necessary to research the failure mechanism of masonry structures under the effect of the impact of debris flows and put forward the effective protective measures. This paper studies the two layers of two bays of brick masonry buildings, by the finite element software ABAQUS, this article simulates and analyses failure mechanism of masonry structure under the action of debris flow impact, and numerical simulation analyses the setting up protective structure.This article main research contents include:(1) Simplify the impact of debris flow to impact loading form, by looking at the debris flow documentations and specifications, confirm the parameters and the formulas for computing the debris flow impact.(2) Use ABAQUS finite element software to establish finite element model of brick masonry buildings, simulate failure process of masonry structure under the impact of debris flows, analysis its failure mechanism through the changes of the stress, deformation and energy of the brick masonry buildings, and gain the velocity of debris flow that brick masonry buildings can withstand under the action of debris flow impact.(3) Set up reinforced concrete protective structure in front of the surface of masonry structure impacted by the debris flows. Using ABAQUS finite element software to establish model, simulate the velocity of debris flow that masonry structure can withstand under the action of debris flow. By changing the parameters of thickness of walls, concrete protective structure, the size of the studio, study the influence on the ability of masonry structure resisting the debris flow impact.
