Power bus,which was usually protected by heat-shrinkable tube, was the primary power supply circuit in the power distribution substation. With the rapid development of power industry and the worsen environment, the heat-shrinkable tube met lots of challengs, such as poor heat dissipation ability and pority in the connection areas between bus and bus. Therefore, the new materials and structures to protect power bus is eager. Silicon oxide film with a good anti-corrosion performance can be deposited on the connection areas of buses forprotective purpose. High thermal conductivity silicone rubber had good insulativity,anti-corrosion property, and excellent thermal conductive performance, which can effectively avoid the reduction of bus work efficiency due to the high thermal conductive of protective material. Therefore, in this paper the aim to solve the problems of busbar protection the dual protection structure based on silicon oxide film and thermal conductivity silicon rubber were carried out. We mainly studied the process parameters and performances of silicon oxide thin films. The detailed works were following:Firstly, silicon oxide film was deposited by atmospheric pressure plasma jet(APPJ). The process parameters, such as the precursor flow rat, deposition times and substrate temperature were explored. We found that there was the process parameters have a great influence on the performances of silicon oxide film. It was obtained that the thickness of coating should be in 650 nm to 1100 nm. A density silicon oxide film could be obtaine by heating the substrate. The film hardness and adhesion were also improved.Secondly, the growth process, composition and structure, and surface morphology of silicon oxide thin film depositied by APPJ and CCP were comparaed. The silicon oxide film deposited by APPJ had relatively poor compactness, but its anti-corrosion performance was better than the films deposited by CCP.Thirdly, silicon oxide film had a good corrosion resistance performance, and this property can be further improved through heating the substrates during the process of film deposition.Finally, the best dual protection structure of bus is depositing silicon oxide film on joint positions and coating thermal conductive silicone rubber on other paters according to the targets of both protection effect and economical efficiency.
