With the rapid development of technology in recent years, the use of ground surface can no longer meet the development of urban economy, and the exploitation of underground space has became a trend. As a kind of special tunnel digging engineering machinery,shield machine is widely used in a variety of construction projects, like subway,railway and highway.Our country’s shield machine career developed rapidly in recent years. However, the micro shield technology developed slowly and was not widely used in the urban pipeline laying. In addition to some pipe branch, city pipeline diameter is mostly from 800 to 2500 mm,which is suitable for mini shield construction. In foreign countries, the micro shield method used mostly in urban pipeline construction. For such reasons as the material and the cost, it is not widely used interiorly. However, with the development of social economy in China, the concept of environmental protection is constantly improving.Especially for the construction of the protection of urban surface existing infrastructure, the micro shield will be used more and more widely.In the thesis,the structural characteristics of shield machine and its working principle has been expounded at first.And according to the design consideration and requirements,we concluded the overall physical design.Then,based on the analysis of motion,its major constituents are designed detailedly,including the design of the main drive system,shield shell, propulsion system, articulated system,lubrication system, sealing system and so on.Finally,the principle axis and bearings are checked in strength under typical operating conditions.
