With the rapid development of urban infrastructure, buildings and pipe network underground is becoming more and more intensive, which brings to the inconvenience of construction ground and underground. And in a certain extent, there is a kind of construction method, based on the way of underground tunnel shield construction, which can solve the problem well. Under the conditions of the cover of metal shell by shield machine and maintain stability of excavation surface, the method is that excavating and crusting soil first, then assembling precast segment in the machine’s tail by manual or device, lastly resisting to segment by advanced oil cylinder to make the machine forward, so that the tunnel forms at a time.In the whole construction process, to prevent the main bearing of the gearbox from the soil in the knife dish of the main drive, to wash and lubricate the main drive bearing rotary sliding mechanism, sealing parts and institutions contacted with the sediment, sealing system set up between the fixed and rotating department, which plays an important role in normal operation of the equipment. However, in the construction site, the system’s alarms and failures of the shield machine are so frequently that seriously impacts on the quality and progress of the construction,which causes a certain economic loss.In the paper, to solve the above problem, firstly, it’s analyzed that the structure and basic characteristics of some typical types of shield’s main drive seal system,such as NFM, LOVAT, Komatsu, Robbins and China Railway Equipment(CRE). And a conclusion is concluded that some risks exist in the main drive sealing system, just as slip ring wear and lip seal damage. Secondly, the types and reasons of alarm and fault are analyzed in the main drive seal system, represented by CRE type of shield machine, including internal and external sealing abnormal alarm of HBW and EP2 grease injection system, alarm of EP2 outside sealing pressure low or high, the phenomenon and reason of the main drive system’s large gearbox filled with mud.Further, it is concluded that the quantity and times control of oil injection and theestablishment of the standard pressure is the key to solve the above problem. Based on the theoretical calculation of the quantity and pressure of grease injection, the control of the optimization main drive sealing system and static and dynamic tests are designed. Finally, the main drive sealing system is simulated, and the results show that the optimized control scheme has certain feasibility, which provides certain theoretical basis for practical applications.In this paper, through theoretical calculation and practical use of shield machine Lord drive sealing system, the characteristics of fault types and the preventive measures are discussed on the preliminary. Then they are simulated and tested in state to state detection system by MATLAB/CtrlLAB and LABVIEW software. Some prevention measures practical and feasible are put forward, to ensure the improvement of reliable performance and the extension of service life of the shield machine’s main drive seal system components and provide convenience for those who either use, repair or maintenance the shield machine Lord drive sealing system in industry.
