With the development of steel bridge technology, there are many new structural type of the bridge is invented. However, For small span or complex geographical environment, the simple structure and low manufacturing cost bridge still be used. Because of it has the characteristic of simple structure and convenient erection, the steel plate girder bridge can be used to almost all terrain with middle and small span. It has widespread application prospect. Currently, the advanced design methods of this type of bridge are mechanical property analysis and computer simulation.This paper takes a steel plate girder bridge overseas as the research background. Comparing with other type of bridge, the paper tells the domestic and foreign research status and existent problems of this bridge. Then it analyses this bridge’s structure and mechanical property and the basic theory of design and calculation.Based on the earlier measured data of the bridge and the geographical features of the bridge site, each part of the whole steel plate girder bridge is calculated. The main structure size and the specific location of stiffening ribs and accessory structure and other structures are calculated in the theory.The use of computer simulation software for finite element analysis of the bridge structure in bridge design is a new direction of development in recent years. Using ANSYS software to establish the whole bridge model of the steel plate girder bridge, the stress state of the bridge is analyzed under different load. This method can check the rationality of the size, and analyze the ultimate bearing capacity and displacement and the internal force distribution. Then the weak point of the bridge can be found, and optimize these points reasonably furthermore.Finally, this paper introduces the manufacturing and processing technics of the bridge in detail, optimizes the process and puts forward some reasonable suggestions. The research results have certain reference value to the manufacture of the steel plate girder bridge. With the deepening research of the steel plate girder bridge, it will provide a theoretical basis for the further application of the bridge and generate more economic and social value.
