This article was based on the VANKE Street Overpass Project, which was put forward by the Shenyang Municipal Design and Research Institute. The structure of this street overpass is unique, the plane view of which is fold line. The crosssection of main girder is specialshaped box beam. The shape of main tower is cone, located outside the folding point of the main beam. The singlerow cable locates outside the girder. The bridge's unique structure increases the difficulty of structure analysis. Desired results can't be get using the conventional analytical methods. So it is very important to study the mechanical problem of specialshaped cable bridge. Then the mechanical properties were studied in this text.First, the analysis of special-shaped cable-stayed bridge consist of regular and irregular cable-stayed bridge analyzing theories. The basic analysis method of special-shaped steel cable-stayed bridge was defined. For regular cable-stayed bridge, the static, stability and dynamic analysis were carried out. For irregular cable-stayed bridge, the mechanical properties under the eccentric load were analyzed.The mechanical characteristic of the VANKE Street Overpass is analysied,based on it, In accordance with "General Code for Design of Highway Bridges and Culverts", "Technical Specifications of Urban Pedestrian Overcrossing and Underpass" combined with previous theories, The element model was established by shell element, Using international finite element software of ANSYS, their displacement, stress and such mechanical properties are calculated under static load.Consequently, the carrying capacity of the bridge could be ineasured.In order to understand the dynamic characteristics of the bridge, the nature frequency and mode shape of the bridge were obtained using software of ANSYS. For the importance of seimic analysis,the response spectrum method was selected for the seismic response analysis of this bridge, then the result showed that the seismic performance of the bridge was fine.The results, conclusions and suggestions can supply important references for the design and construction of the VANKE Street Overpass Project.
