The Study Of Conservation And Control Guidelines Of Dujunfu-zhonggulou Historic Area In Taiyuan

Conservation of historic areas has become an important part in Chinese urban and cultural heritages conservation. However, there are still great difficulties with supervision, regulation and execution when translate a conservation plan into reality. Conservation control guidelines, acting as a critical tool to put conservation planning into three dimensional space control, has both advantages from instructive feature of urban design and standardization of regulatory detailed planning. Therefore, is of great significance for the protection of historic areas.Taiyuan has a long history and great culture connotation, which is also one of the national famous historical and cultural city in China. Dujunfu-Zhonggulou area is a vital part of Taiyuan prefectural city conservation. On one hand, it is because of its unique era and regional background, such the fragmented distribution of cultural heritages; on the other hand, it also faces the universal problems in the process of historic areas protection in China, such as constructive destruction and blueprint planning, etc. The newly created Taiyuan prefectural city conservation planning offers an opportunity to research on conservation control guidelines in order to provide a sample for conservation control in Dujunfu-Zhonggulou area and other historic areas.First through the study of related theory and practice of foreign and domestic historic areas conservation, the paper proposes principles of historic areas’ conservation guidelines system, including spirit continuity of place, originality of historic features, grading control system and integrity of sustainable development. Then the control guidelines system and result expressions are built. The conservation control guideline decision data includes instructions, general layouts and sub-area layouts, as well as specific requirements of standardized drawing expressions.On this basis, this paper focuses specifically on conservation control elements by study of practices in Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai and ZPPAUP in France, and builds control element database including four categories, scope of conservation area, architectural form, public space and landmark. Then subdivides them into smaller classes, thus effectively define the specific content of control elements, and requirements of planning results.Finally, this paper applies the conservation control guidelines system mentioned above into Dujunfu-Zhonggulou area, according to its own characteristics, then extracts favorable control elements from database and proposes corresponding conservation control planning strategy and control guidelines sample.
