Meshing transmission of round link chains and driving sprocket is the core of scraper conveyor transport mechanism,it has important effects on running efficiency and service life of the scraper conveyor.In the trend of scraper conveyor to heavy, driving sprocket due to excessive wear failure has become one of the main faults of the scraper conveyor. Therefore, the meshing contact and wear mechanism of round link chains and driving sprocket were studied in test means to slow down the sprocket wear has important significance to enhance scraper conveyor running efficiency and service life.First,the meshing process and wear mechanism of round link chains and driving sprocket were analyzed and finite element analysis software ANSYS Workbench were used to analysis the static contact of round link chains and driving sprocket and obtains round link chains and driving sprocket’s transient deformation and stress distribution of meshing contact.Then,based on a full understanding of the scraper conveyor and meshing process of round link chains and driving sprocket the wearing test bench’s functional requirements analysis and overall scheme of round link chains anddriving sprocket has been finished.Design calculation,equipment selection and structure design of the wearing test bench also has been finished. In virtual prototype technology of modern design method,the structural strength and reliability of the test bench were ensured after the finite element analysis software ANSYS Workbench was used to analysis the stress of the most important parts. The design and operation parameters of chain transmission system of the test bench was proved correct after the dynamics simulation of chain transmission system was finished in the dynamics simulation analysis software ADAMS,also it has provided reference and basis for the design of the test bench. The engineering drawings of outsourced parts were finished after a three-dimensional model of the test bench was created by the three-dimensional design software UG.Second,The test bench was assembled according to general assembly drawing after the required standard equipment and outsourced parts were produced. No-load and load test on test bench were carried out and test results were analyzed. The test results show that the test bench operation condition is good, it achieved the expected design requirements, and it also can meet the need of follow-up test.Finally,a wear test was carried out between different materials and different hardness in the wear test bench which designed and built by independent.The test result show that different styles of wear such as fatigue wear, abrasive wear etc are exists in the process of meshing contact between round link chains and driving sprocket.With higher fatigue life and higher hardness of the materials,with the forging process to reduce the defects in the material to enhance its wear resistance, with CNC precision machining method to improve surface roughness levels of chain pit and other measures were put forward to enhance the wear resistance of the chain pit and improve its service life.
