Reinforced engineering has the advantages of strong, durable, good fire resistance, low cost and so on. Engineering calculation software has been widely used in the calculation of the rebar used in the engineering structure and applied to assist the estimating work efficiently and accurately during the phase of bidding.However, there are still problems during the work process due to the limitation of techniques and work mode. In this case, the cost engineer have to put a lot of time and effort. With the development of Building Information Modeling(BIM), the traditional working mode of the cost engineering has been impacted.The calculation technique of reinforcing steel bar also has been changed, Therefore it is necessary to develop the structural engineering rebar calculation system based on BIM technology.This study is the initial work of the research and development of the structural engineering rebar calculation system based on BIM technology. It aims to determine the ideas of the research and development about the revit rebar calculation system,completed the work flow of the system and the design of the main function, and to achieve the initial development of the system. Which are based on that the requirements of the software has be determined.First, based on the study and the research about the domestic and international applications of BIM technology and calculation software, this study determined the basic needs of the development of the rebar calculation software. Second, accoring to the analysis of the standard engineering, this study combined the calculation of the process of with the manual calculation, and then determines the new idea of the reinforcing steel bar, which are based on the parametric design of the Revit. It makes the component model be related to the rebar schedule, real-time linkage. This idea is based on the standard of the rebar caculation. And then it finishs the flow of the calculation system, the main module functionand and the design of the interface.Third, abstract the bar information from CAD, reasrch the pattern of the rebar schedule, identified the basic rebar schedule needs of the system-Rebar Schedule,and development of the process which makes the original CAD data change to Rebar Schedule automatic. Fourth, the configuration file of the calculation system is set up and readed. The basic function of the system is realized. And the system is tested by the case project. It realized the use of the Revit model, efficiently and fast.This study has solved many problems about the structural engineering rebar calculation system based on BIM technology. It lays a solid foundation for the follow-up research works and the development of BIM.
