With the development of bridge engineering technology, long-span bridge structures has been greatly promoted in foriegn and domestic areas, the safety, integrity and durability of longspan bridge structure have become key issues to be resolved, the bridge structural health monitoring system is an important way to solve this problem. Now, structural health monitoring system has been installed in many long-span bridges in China and abroad. However, there are still many problems in actual operation, such as its real-time characteristic, practicality and weak maintenance management guidance. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct deep research on bridge structural health monitoring system.This paper has had an historic review and conclusion on health-monitor system in China and abroad, and analysis of the component of the system, code of design and configuration of parameters.Based on the reference of existing achievements, as well as combining with the characteristic of Huangpu Bridge, a new health-monitor system has been designed to accommodate the monitor work of both cable-stayed bridge and suspension bridge. The system has been divided into three layers: the sensor subsystem, the sampling and transporting subsystem and the data managing and estimating subsystem.Based on the analysis on data from monitor system of Huangpu Bridge, and collecting the global condition of structure and changes to the stress, conclusion can be drawn that the variation of parameters and developing trends of each point coincide with normal regulations. The mechanical condition is reasonable, and the bridge structure is safe.Based on the analysis on data of velocity of wind, deformation, the strain of control section and the dynamical behavior from monitor system of Huangpu Bridge suffering typhoon, each control point being tested has shown its reasonability of structural mechanic behavior, owing to the parameters’ and their trend of variety’s coincidence with theoretical conditions. The system claimed to be working under normal and stable conditions, and the bridge can stay safe under and after the impact caused by typhoon.
