With the improvement of people’s life, intelligent lighting control system is becoming more and more popular. Light emitting diode (LED) is rapidly taking place of traditional light source in the lighting system due to its advantages of high luminous efficiency, long work life, easy for control, etc. Intelligent lighting products with real-time control of the light spot are widely applied whether in the localized lighting, or in the stagecraft lighting, because it can not only reduce energy consumption, but also create suitable atmosphere. The approaches of how to simplify the structure of lighting control system, how to improve the real-time performance of the control of light beaming and shaping, and how to increase the diversity of the spot on the target plane become the common concern of researchers. Lens array is introduced into the LED lighting optical design in this thesis with reference to the principle of integral imaging to realize the real-time control of the target spot. The design and simulation of the structure is completed. And on the basis of simulation, an experimental platform is built to verify the feasibility of this structure.The main work of the thesis includes the following parts:Firstly, light beaming and shaping structure based on lens array and LED matrix is proposed. The working principle of the structure is described. The selection of the LED source and the lens, the arrangement of the LED matrix, the structure of the lens array and optical parameter design of the lens are analyzed theoretically. The formulas of the distance between LED matrix and lens array is derived according to the principles of optical imaging. Based on the optical design, a LED lighting system based on lens array is designed combining with an actual application.Secondly, optical design software is applied to model and simulate the LED lighting system. The influences of the radius of curvature of the lens, the size of the lens and the interval of the LED matrix on the distribution of the target plane are studied and analyzed. Localized lighting is taken as the actual application scene. The mapping relationship between sources and spots on the target plane is obtained. And in order to improve the illuminance uniformity of the target plane effectively, an optimal design of the light intensity distribution of the LEDs at different positions is proposed and validated.Lastly, experiment platform of the LED lighting system based on lens array is built. According to the simulation results and the actual conditions, an experiment platform of the lighting system is constructed. High brightness LED lattice display is employed for source matrix and Fresnel lenses with short focal length were spliced together to be a lens array. The patterns for display are designed according to the mapping relationship. The experimental results show that the structure can realize the localized lighting on the target plane and present color patterns by setting the RGB color values of LEDs respectively.The LED lighting structure based on lens array can realize real-time control of the light spot. Besides, it can also be developed for various applications, such as distinctive lighting for plaza and stagecraft.
