Nowadays, the state promotes energy conservation and optimization of the power structure. At this request, our country has to speed up the elimination of small thermal power units. In order to save investment costs, besides building new large thermal power units, power generation companies and researchers also pay attention to how to carry out technological transformation of existing units, explore the potential of existing units and extend the life of the units.This paper is based on a transformation project for a boiler. The boiler is implemented in Unit 1 and Unit 2 of Shanghai Baosteel captive power plant. An accurate model of the boiler, basic models of the steam turbine and the heat recovery systems should be established. According to the standard books, the original design data of the boiler, the steam turbine structure drawings and the heat balance diagrams, the standard algorithm model is established. By fitting correction factor, the heat transfer coefficient for every heating surface is corrected. The difference between the standard algorithm model and the design algorithm of the boiler is compensated. The operation characteristic model of the actual object is also established and the calculated results have practical reference value.The way how to combine the operation characteristic model to the virtual DCS software is proposed in this paper. By operating the virtual DCS software, a new actual operating point is automatically acquired and imported to the model. On the basis of traditional simulator, the simulation model is replaced by the accurate calculation model. The steady state simulation output value which is calculated by the virtual DCS software will be imported to the model and made machine rational calculation in the model. This method aims at providing theoretic calculation basis for boiler operation, modification and maintenance.On the basis of the standard algorithm, the operation characteristic model is established for the actual object unit. The integration method for the new model and the virtual DCS software is also explored in this paper. This paper presents the method of using virtual DCS software to control accurate mathematical models of MS Excel form. It explores the method to integrate a new form of model with the virtual DCS software, can realize different operation value to the simulator.
