Currently, to China’s energy consumption structure, the future of China’s energy sources in the next few decades mainly based on coal, and there will not be a big change.The traditional coal fired industrial boilers have a large proportion in the industrial energy consumption, but the low efficiency and high pollution caused by the technical problems are important sources of energy waste and environmental pollution. In recent years, the reform of boiler has been carried out in the country, but the most direct and effective method is still clean combustion technology. Because of the large difference in the type, size, heating surface arrangement and the adaptability of coal, the numerical simulation method is very necessary for the simulation of boiler. A research work is carried out on the combustion characteristics of the industrial boiler based on the furnace hearth of the chain grate, and provides the data base for the direction of the reform of the boiler. The main research contents are as follows:Firstly, the type of burner and the adaptability of the environment are analyzed, and a new method of changing the burner to increase the second wind is put forward.Secondly, the research of adding second wind swirl burner combustion performance numerical simulation method using Fluent software, the combustion characteristics of the pulverized coal in the furnace were analyzed, results show that: swirl burner jet in the furnace to form clockwise backflow, reduce the furnace temperature level, strengthen the furnace heat convection; Due to the interior space is simple, except in the upper part of the furnace pressure jet, the overall relatively uniform;The furnace outlet and in the upper part of the furnace, the furnace internal particles in the long residence time, are beneficial to burnout.Finally, puts forward some reform suggestions: low oxygen combustion can reduce the temperature in the furnace and can reduce the slagging phenomenon; Furnace convection heat transfer enhancement of swirling jet drift.
