In recent years, with the development ofnational urbanization process, urban infrastructure construction requires the excavators’ functionsbecoming intelligent constantly. As one of the core parts of an excavator, the development of intelligent instrumentation system on the excavator is becoming the main research direction of the construction machinery enterprises.In order to realize the intelligence of dashboard of construction machinery,the excavator is treated as the research object.The main functions and performance requirements which needs to achieveare analyzedin this paper. On this basis, this paper presents an overall structure of the development on the instrumentation system and carefully studied the hardware development, software development and key technical points. Then it puts forward the overall study design scheme of the system, and gradually expands the work.The main contents are as follows:Firstly, overall instrumentation system solution is worked out according to the excavator instrumentation system’s functions and performance requirements. The Freescale i.MX6 Q quad-core microprocessor is chosen as the main chipaccording to the overall design of the instrument system and the excavator intelligent instrument hardware development platformis designed.Secondly, QNX embedded real-time operating system is selected as the software development program depending on the overall design and hardware development platform. Then,continue with the work on QNX real-time operating system migration and complete building the instrumentation system development and debugging environment.Drivers, applications, main interface of Instrument, menu interface and video displayfunctions are developed in the development and debugging environmentfor the instrumentation system function.Thirdly, the multi-buffering technology solution is presented for solving the existing problems of graphics flickering.The rotary and interpolation algorithm solution is proposedfor solving pointer aliasing issues in rotation.Fourthly, the work of hardware and function testing iscarried out on the excavator intelligent instrumentation system.The research work of the design is summarized.Improvement prospects of the next generation of instrumentation systems are looked forward to.In this paper, Freescale i.MX6 Q quad-core microprocessor is selected as the core of excavator intelligent instrumentation systems.This paper has studiedthe hardware platform design, software migration and application development based on the selected microprocessor. The use of multi-core, high-frequency microprocessors with multi-thread concurrent QNX embedded real-time operating system, speed up the response speed of the instrument system to improve the timeliness and reliability of instrumentation systems. The corresponding algorithm solutions are presented for solving the existing problems of graphics flickering and aliasing issues in pointer rotation.The excavator intelligent instrumentation system designed in this paper has great research value for promoting industrial upgrading of excavator instrumentation systems.
