The aesthetic is objective existence, and the aesthetic perception is subjective psychological feelings for humans. A good product design must be a beautiful design.With the development of science and technology, and increasing competition of markets, the product design is having appeared different ways of innovation, it can not far satisfy consumers’ needs that just meeting the using function, so it is a challenge that the product could satisfy the aesthetic sense and pleasure of consumers,and product forms occupy a very important position to meet aesthetic feelings of consumers.Based on what is mentioned above, this study analyzed aesthetic principles of visual perception and cognition, and summarized function knowledge base of aesthetic degree evaluation of product form, then the relationship between aesthetic degree quantization index and aesthetic sense was built, that provided an effective aided method for the product design and development. The main contents include the following three stages:Firstly, aesthetic cognition and visual perception was analyzed, the aesthetic evaluation knowledge of Gestalt Psychology, Aesthetic Principle, Birkhoff’ Aesthetic Theory, Golden Ratio was excavated, and summarized of twelve forms for the product evaluation, built mathematical equations through aesthetic evaluation knowledge,which was constructed aesthetic degree evaluation knowledge base of product form,then calculated through aesthetic degree knowledge base by the case of purple clay teapot, and the purpose to objectively evaluate the product form was achieved.Secondly, the aesthetic perception was obtained by kansei engineering technology, and then target product aesthetic sense forms obtained with cluster analysis. Purple clay teapot were used as samples to choose representative aesthetic degree indexes which included symmetry degree, proportion degree, order degree and deviation degree, those indexes effective evidence that build relationship between explicit form and implicit aesthetic sense. The Structural Equation Modeling was used to show the logic relationship between product form and visual perception, it was a strong foundation of the product form aesthetics degree evaluation system.Finally, the artificial neural network was used to construct aesthetic degree evaluation system of product forms, the input data were representative aesthetic degree indexes and the output data were aesthetic evaluation values; the purple clay teapot aesthetic degree system were taken as the example to take a training for BPneural networks and to conduct a verified analysis; then two different designed product form samples were chosen and analyzed, the result showed that the aesthetic degree evaluation system of product form had a good applicability and had good prospects being used in the computer aided design of product.
