With the development of the city, the main roads in the city is becoming wider and wider, So in order to ensure the safety of the pedestrians and the smooth flow of traffic, more and more footbridge have been built. The characteristics of the footbridge is light,soft, small damping and low frequency, the several frequency in front may be in person walking frequency range, so it is easy to cause the resonance of the bridge. London Millennium Bridge, China’s Wuhan Bridge and France Passerelle Solferino bridge are a typical example, the consistency of person walking cause the bridge vibration, which can not meet the standard of pedestrian comfort. In order to reduce bridge vibration, At present the most effective method is to install tuned mass damper(ie.TMD) at home and abroad. First of all,this paper optimized the TMD parameters,then,the effect of vibration reduction was analyzed. Finally, This paper Based on Beam-arch association bridges as an example for TMD design.This article main research content is as follows:Firstly, summarizes the research status of STMD and the optimal parameters of STMD formula. In view of MTMD, in order to provide a variety of construction techniques, three MTMD model(MTMD-1~MTMD-3) were proposed through derivation. The fitting formula for the optimal parameters in three cases that the main structure damping ratio is equal to 0,0.02 and 0.05. This can provide guidance for design in the future. On the basis of the optimal parameters, the difference of robustness and vibration damping effect about MTMD-1~MTMD-3 was analyzed.Then, on the basis of the optimal parameters, three aspects in view of the MTMD-1~MTMD-3 and N-MTMD were analyzed, which include the relative displacement, the single parameters change and multiple parameters change. Considering the TMD installation location is different, so According to the classical theory and distributed TMD equation was derived.Finally, based on Beam-arch association bridges as an example for TMD design. Different loading modes of Pedestrian loads at home and abroad are summarized, this paper chose three kinds of Load model, through the analysis and comparison the most adverse response load model was selected. And STMD and 4- MTMD are Installed in the bridge. The difference of STMD and 4-MTMD vibration damping effect is analyzed. the difference of the sum of the displacement of the TMD was compared.
