After the reform and opening to the outside world, the city centralized heating system in our country has been rapidly developed, and gradually replaced the scattered heating system. The central heating system is developing toward the direction of large-scale and more complex. The safety and reliability of heating system is particularly important. In the long distance conveying high temperature water of centralized heating systems, water hammer phenomenon exists objectively, water hammer phenomenon generated in the heating system is more serious than in the low temperature water system, and more destructive. Once the water hammer occurs, it can not only result in pipeline rupture, serious economic losses, even causing the personal injury and death. Calculating the water hammer phenomenon in heating systems through the numerical simulation, taking effective measures to reduce the water hammer protection and prevent the occurrence of water hammer accident, which is of great significance.This paper makes a detailed analysis and research on the water hammer in a closed system of a heating system, introduces the basic concept and basic theory of water hammer, and makes a detailed description of the characteristic method used in the calculation of water hammer, discusses the common boundary conditions for the calculation of water hammer in the closed heating system in detail. This paper analysis and summarize commonly used in the heating system to prevent and reduce water hammer protection measures, provide detailed description of the structure of different protective measures, the principle of protection and the boundary conditions for the calculation.Finally, takes an energy power plant to a Mine’s heating system as the example, through the characteristic method, uses the computer language C++, establishes the water hammer calculation mathematics model in a closed long distance heating network, simulates the pressure when pump failure in heating systems, also simulates the pressure in the hot water pipeline system when installing box type two-way surge tank in the specified locations in the system and use different time and different angle to shut off the valve. Altimately, takes installing box type two-way surge tank in the calculated position of the hot water piping system as the optimal protection program.In heating network design, it needs to take reasonable protective measures to reduce water hammer, and this paper has a reference value.
