As a highway safety facilities, in the case of the traffic accidents inevitably happening, barrier played the important role of minimizing the severity of the accident to the minimum state. In view of the barrier’s great value to traffic safety and to avoid economic losses and casualties, domestic experts have started the research on barriers very early. To the unremitting efforts of many scholars in the country, most highways now have installed various forms of barriers fitted with suitable structures based on the road shape and traffic. But now, the research and development on barrier are all based on the straight road, the design and research on curve road has many missing. Directly using the barrier to curve highway road, obviously, the process is lack of experimental data and technology. And now Some norms has not gave the explanation on the fact of issue that vehicle often going out of the curve highway road barrier, and causing a fatal car crash in serious accidents. Based on the technology missing space, in reading a great deal of information and documentation, this paper select NJ continuous concrete barrier as a research base, mainly research the section of barrier from the section suited for curve highway road .Around the technical problem, the work has done by and innovations are as follows:1) Analyzed and summarized the current situation and existing problems of China’s traffic safety and barrier, and discussed the need for corners barrier in detail, expatiated the basic theory on curve barrier technology, final determined curve barrier type and the collision Conditions and evaluation criteria.2) Around the issue of establishment of a simulation model and its verification, the paper from both of the model precision and accuracy, focused on solved the data processing in the course of the finite element simulation, and pre-processing problems in the entire process of barrier - vehicle - curve road finite element model establishing. Pre-processing issues including: analyzing the overall vehicle -barrier - curve road model to determine the final collision system finite element model; meshing, defining the unit and identifying the suitable material parameter model; research penetrating causes and solving the problem of untrue simulation results ; adjusting time step on the quality scale, shortening the simulation time and increasing the efficiency ; researching on the stability and ensuring the smooth completion of calculation.3) Commissioning model, through comparing the straights simulation results to the actual test results verified the accuracy of the model, so as gave the model basis for the research followed. The resolution of this issue laid the foundation for follow-up researchers for the more in-depth research on curve highway road barrier from the finite element aspects.4) Through the comparison between curve impact simulation results of three features radius and straights simulation results proved that: it is inappropriate to use the straight barrier for the curve highway road directly, because vehicle is easier to go out of barrier plane in curve impact. At the same time, identified the causes that lead to such results through analysis and comparison: the vehicles’center of gravity elevate too much. This inference has opened up a new world for the research on curve barrier, and proved the necessity of the research on curve barrier technology.5) Choose a curve impact of relatively high rate accident in the radius of 400 meters as research object, applied orthogonal design theory to the optimization of barrier section shape, used SPSS software to analyze various factors on the impact of the outcome through 25 groups’simulation tests, finally found the best barrier section shape suited for curve impact.6) In accordance with the original norms to establish barrier base model and simulate, through analysis of the results confirmed the barrier stability, resolved the base design of the barrier, also verified that the simulation at front section making barrier’s bottom nodes as fixed is a reasonable approach . In addition, through the analysis of impact force and stress in the process of the impact, raised the reinforced programme for barrier, solve the strength problem.On the research process, there are two innovative points:1) New barrier research shift from straight to curve, fill the blank of the curve barrier research on the domestic.2) Applied orthogonal design theory to the optimization of barrier section shape, orthogonal test methods opened a new road for the optimization of concrete section shapes and has important engineering practical significance and value.
