Along with the rapid development of underground construction in recent years,shield tunneling method,as a safety and efficient tunneling technique,is becoming a comprehensive way to build the subway. Among the shield tunneling methods,Earth Pressure Balanced Shield tunneling(EPBS) is becoming the main tunneling technique with its technical and economical advantages.One of the key techniques of EPBS is correcting soil condition. The technique of correcting soil condition, which is changing the characteristics of the soil by adding some modifier in the soil, made the soil into the best state of plastic flow.Presently, a large amount of researches have been conducted by some scholars, and some obtained a lot of meaningful results. But most of these researches only got a few qualitative conclusions, not giving quantitative interpretation. Also, the research of evaluating the soil properties was only limited to single variables. Accordingly, in this paper, a lot of researches were done, and great deals of experiments were conducted, and get some useful conclusions.(1)Through the study of the EPBS construction principle, propose the evaluation parameters of evaluating the characteristics of the soil, thereby can get the effect of correcting soil condition quantificationally.(2)By means of the experiment research, obtain the applicability relationship between the soil and the modifier.(3)Through the experiment research, build a co-positive evaluation methodology which evaluates the characteristics of the soil.(4) Combining with actual shield construction results, preliminary get the relationship between the indoor test parameters and the actual shield parameters.The results of this study can be well combined with the actual construction, and can be applied directly to the actual construction.
