Along with the rapid development of communication technology, large-scale integrated circuit technology and computer technology, instrument technology is undergoing huge changes, the virtual test technology is increasingly been introduced into the instrument technology. At present, the virtual instrument is gradually replacing the traditional test equipment and measuring instruments into the mainstream of testing. Electronic Balance is a quality measurement instrument, widely used in factories, laboratories, scientific research, universities, with features of high accuracy, fast response, good stability, automatic calibration, fault diagnosis and easy operation.A system of intelligent electronic analytical balance, based on the low-power MCU MSP430F449 is designed, with the range from 0 to 210g, accuracy 0.1 mg, and the maximum permissible error less than 0.3mg. By exploiting the NT’s LabVIEW8.5 platform, the intelligent electronic balance PC management system, with the enhanced data processing capabilities, and the quality of objects quickly on line, is developed.This paper describes the development, classification, and trend of virtual instrument technology, analyzes the construction and working principles of electronic balance and parts of the hardware circuits; proposes the design concept of an electronic analytical balance PC management system based on LabVIEW, outlines the feasibility analysis of virtual instrument based intelligent electronic balance PC management system; then focuses on the analysis and research of electronic balance management system software; designed and implemented a range of 210g, accuracy 0.1 mg intelligent electronic analytical balance management system; Finally, the performance of the balance is tested under laboratory conditions.A wide variety of functions, such as quality weighing, peeling, calibration, percentage weighing, the cumulative weighing, counting weighing, unit conversion, serial communication and so on has been achieved by the electronic analytical balance management system software. And the security of the system has been improved effectively by a user login system based on the AES algorithm encryption algorithm; meanwhile the bidirectional synchronous communication between electronic analytical balance and computer can be realized. By employing the keyboard operation panel on the computer, the operations, such as peeled, function parameter setting, calibration, switching on and shutting down, and self-test functions with built-in weights, can be simulated. In addition, the designs of the database module, which can improve the reliability of data storage, facilitate users to inquiry and records, and user-friendly interface are completed.Experimental results show that the design of electronic analytical balance management system, implemented with above-mentioned scheme meets the requirements of intelligent and precise in scientific measurement of precision weighing, and acquire the highly assess of project commissioned units.
