Research On The Influence Of Social Capital On Scientific Research Achievements Of Young Scientists And Technicians

There is a widespread view that, in today’s society, social capital is factor forpeople to get professional achievement, and it even plays a decisive role. Andsometimes it is something related to unfair competition. Scientists and technicians areengaged in research work.Although the particularity of the contents of their workdetermines innovation should be the soul and flag of the research work, so the levelof innovative behavior should be the determining factor of their research, butscientific research is still one kind of work.So maybe young Scientists andTechnicians’s research work is related to social capital too. So, do the relationshipin the research work of young scientists exist? And how is the influence? How doesit influent? These are the problems witch would be studied in this paper.Based on realistic background and theory, this paper believes that:(1) Theinfluence of social capital to research achievements do exists.(2) The influence ofsocial capital to research achievements is at least in part because that innovativebehavior is influenced by social capital. Therefore, this paper concocts thesehypotheses:(1) Social capital possesse positive correlation with the researchachievement of young Scientists and Technicians;(2) Innovative behavior of youngscientists and Technicians and their research achievements possesse positivecorrelation;(3)The correlation between social capital and research achievement ispartily because of innovative behavior ‘s function, innovative behavior is themediator;(4)Social capital and innovative behavior, social capital ande researchachievement has an inverted U-shaped relationship.This paper make investigations by questionnaires and interviews to youngscientists and Technicians of Sichuan,and make statistical tests to hypothesis. Thestatistical tests for correlation show that general social capity and researchachievement don’t have correlation, but the social capity of academy and researchachievement do have. Besides, the intensity of correlation between innovation andresearch achievement is stronger than the correlation between social capital andresearch achievement. Each two of social capital of academy, innovative behavior andreseatch achievement have correlation, and if control the variable of innovativebehavior, the intensity of correlation between social capital of academy and researchachievement significantly weakened, confirmed that innovative behavior is the mediator. And it also showed that social capital and innovative behavior, socialcapital and research achievement did’nt have the inverted U-shaped relationship.These conclusions could provide empirical data and the conclusions for the studyof social capital in research work in this area. Besides,due to clarifing the correlationbetween social capital, innovative behavior and research achievements, it could helpexplaining the law of scientific research.And it also could help reconsidering theimportance of social capital and innovative behavior to researchment for youngscientists and technicians and others, help young scientists and technicians get a betterscientific mentality and resources, more scientific research programs, map outabetter work plans. people and society could have a more harmonious relationships.
