As natural sciences, humanities and social sciences are significant elements foreconomic development and societal advancement. Young scholars are the important forcefor humanities and social sciences research. The thesis discusses the distributioncharacteristics of young scholars from perspectives such as region, subject, university typeand age group and these perspectives’ influences on young scholars’ research. Theresearch data comes from the general project of humanities and social sciences fromChinese education ministry. The thesis analyzes the problems existed in the projects application, settlement andsponsoring in humanities and social sciences research, then discusses the way to create abetter research conditions for young scholars’ growth. Because of the perspective ofmacro-policy and projects type, young scholars are the main force of research. The methods adopted in this research are cluster analysis and on line analyticalprocessing (OLAP) technology. The research finds out that young scholars have powerfulresearch potential influence and capability, but they are more likely to locate at developedareas with focus on popular subject. Meanwhile, those young scholars are usually holdposition at strong background universities such as multiversity, science&engineeringuniversities, normal schools and finance&economics universities. Therefore, somescientific policy such as relaxing project application requirements, reforming peer reviewsystem to forest innovation and discovery project with certain risk, supporting thedevelopment of humanities and social sciences in backward areas and weak subjects, foresting predominant disciplines of certain university types should be executed. For thoseareas such as northeast and middle part in China with weak research foundation shouldown supporting policies. Besides, research on less attentive subjects like internationalrelations issues, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan issues, statistics, archeology should beencouraged. It is also suggestive to foster the strength disciplines in universities oflanguage, nationalities and politics&law, which can benefit the future research in relatedareas.
