A Study On Sino - Japanese Direct Investment Strategy

With the rapid development of globalization and regional integration,transnational andinternational investment has become the main form of the world economic and tradecooperation,especially,the bilateral direct investment between two countries or regions hasbecome an important driving force to promote one country even regionaldevelopment.China and Japanese as the second and third largest economic power occupypivotal positions in the process of world economic development.Compared with the rapiddevelopment of bilateral trade between China and Japan,however,the bilateral investmentbetween the two countries is relatively slow,especially on the side of China’s directinvestment in Japan.So research on the bilateral foreign direct investment between the twocountries has significant strategic meaning of the further bilateral economic and traderelations,promoting the world economic development.The dissertation, which contains five chapters,introduces the bilateral between Chinaand Japan.Chapter One mainly introduces the theory of the mainstream theory of foreigndirect investment an the theory of foreign direct investment in developing countries todeveloped countries,the current research situation on the bilateral direct investmentbetween China and Japan.what’s more,this chapter puts forward innovation and shortnessof the dissertation.Through the combination of theoretical and empirical analysis method and caseanalysis method,in Chapter Two,we introduce the current situation,characteristics andproblems of “Japan’s foreign direct investment in China”.According to the article,althoughin recent years Japan’s foreign direct investment in China continues to grow,it onlyoccupies a small proportion.Japan’s foreign direct investment in China presents thefollowing characteristics:Japan’s foreign direct investment in China is given priority tomanufacturing industry,Japan’s foreign direct investment in China highly concentrated ineastern coastal land,the scale of the Japanese companies investment to China is stillsmall,and occupy the Chinese market is still reckoned as the main purpose of some Japanese enterprises foreign direct investment,what’s more,part of some Japanesecompanies which invest in China begin to attach the importance to a third country orregional market development.To analyze the major problems faced by the Japan’s directinvestment in China,the article mainly discuss the issue form"the main risks of theJapanese companies operating in China "and "the withdrawal, migration problems of theJapanese-owned enterprises in China".Similar to Chapter Two,Chapter Three introduces the current situation,problems andcharacteries of “China’s foreign direct investment in Japan”.According to the paper,China’sforeign direct investment shows the following three characteristics:local enterprisesbecome the subject of China’s foreign direct investment in Japan,the investment industry isexpanding in various fields from traditional service industry,the main ways of Chineseenterprise invest in Japan are green field investment and cross-border M&A.For the mainproblems of china’s foreign direct investment, the paper mainly talks about the followingaspects:mergering and acquisitioning Japanese companies face a lot of difficulties;theoperating costs of investment in japan is higher,Japanese FDI preferential policy is less andenterprise financing is difficult,the open of Japan is limited,there are a lot of strictrestrictions on foreign investment,etc.In Chapter Two and Chapter Three,the article also analyzed sine September2012,Japanannounced the “Diaoyu Island”nationalization and played the staged farce,which cased therelationship between the two countries more and more tension and cased unfavorableinfluence.The paper analyzes that compared with “Diaoyu Island” dispute the impact ofJapan’s foreign direct investment in China,China’s foreign direct investment in Japan isgreater.In Chapter Four,the passage mainly talks about attracting Japanese investment anddirect investment in Japan of HeiLongjiang Province,according to this chapter,as a frontierprovince,Japanese investment and investment in Japan of HeiLongjiang Province isless,but it has advantage of backwardness,so it should counties to expand to attractJapanese investment and encourage some companies to carry out the investment inJapan.In Chapter Five,the paper mainly talks some suggestions about how to promote the bilateral investment between China and Japan and how to promote the economic and tradecooperation between HeiLongjiang Province and japan.
