The Cause Test Of Latin American Urbanization And Its Enlightenment To China

For its fast pace as well as a number of social and economic problems occurred, urbanization in Latin America has become a hot issue which catches attentions from both domestic and foreign scholars. But these studies concentrate on the state as well as problems of urbanization in Latin America. They are mainly theoretical analysis, but not empirical one. Especially those concentrated on the relationship between industrialization and urbanization. This paper tries to synthesize the results concluded by both foreign and domestic scholars, and applies correlated urbanization model built up by Firebaugh to study reasons for the urbanization in Latin America. The data is obtained from the website of the World Bank and includes41countries’ relative data from1960to1980. Besides, the paper intends to do a Granger causality test on the relationship between those reasons and urbanization so as to conclude irrational parts in the process of urbanization in Latin America. Finally, this paper tries to find something useful to instruct the urbanization process in China.
