A reasonable aggregate production planning has positive significance for responding to market demand, reducing waste in manufacturing process and the inventory of product. However, there are a large number of uncertain and imprecise factors in actual environment which caused great difficulties for making a production plan.This paper analyzes these uncertain factors in all aspects of production planning and decision-making process of current manufacturing enterprises and proposes a practical solution to develop aggregate production plan by the interval number optimization. According to interval used to model the uncertainty of a variable, the uncertain optimization problem is transformed into a deterministic optimization problem.First, this paper study the application of the interval number optimization in the aggregate production planning considering factors of the total cost, overtime hours, inventory and labor force changing. The interval number optimization is verified to solve the aggregate production planning problems by solving production plan’s optimization.Then the paper combines the goal programming method with the interval number optimization to solve the multi-objective production planning problems. After the multi-objective production planning model is transformed the goal programming model, it can be solved by the interval number optimization. It proves its feasibility of solving production planning problems under uncertainties.Finally the paper studies the application of the interval number optimization in the Multistage Manufacturing System. By solving production planning problems in the Multistage Manufacturing System, the interval number optimization is proved to be effective.Through the above three research,the interval number optimization is proved to solve aggregate production planning problems well. A series of examples is proved its validity and feasibility.
