It is a thin high tenacity fiber chain line, connecting airship and other subjects.Firstly, this paper studies space tether’s original backgrounds and the premise of development. And through relevant research, we can see: with space tether’s development becoming mature, it generates positive function to the field of spaceflight, even the society. Meanwhile, according to requirement in the field of spaceflight, this paper reviews space tether’s development history. And in a proper order, it states and analyzes spaces tether’s concept and classification, generation and development, development history of main spacefaring nations in the world. The more important is: to compare and analyze design schemes and projects of space tether.Secondly, this paper analyzes the current situation of space tether, and makes us clear the goal of space tether’s development——the space elevator. Progressively, by way of analyzing current studying situation of space elevator this paper explains its development characteristics and its technical feature, presents its technical premise and analyzes its development discontinuity. In the meantime, the study of its technological superiorities and technical disadvantages enrich the research of space elevator’s technological factors in a certain extent. In the matter of developing feasibility and necessity this paper gives original ideas and suggestions.Finally, on the basis of space elevator’s developing trend this paper gives development feasibility and reasonable planning of this technique, and prospects technical improvement of its key technology in the future and its future function and development strategy.
