| Thrips hawaiiensis (Morgan) belongs to thripidea, T. hawaiiensis is a significant pest in mango orchards. Chemical treatment plays a major role in the control and management of T. hawaiiensis, including chlorpyrifos, carbosulfan and so on. However, the resistance of pesticide have increased due to the mass application of insecticides. In order to solved the problem, more and more scholars pay more attention to research physical control.Firstly, species and dynamics of thrips was investigated in mango orchards, and the development period in different temperature was studied, which was used for controlling thrips at the right moment. Meanwhile, the method of Colored sticky traps, Traps with volatile chemicals, Colored sticky traps combined with volatiles can be widely used in mango orchards for T. hawaiiensis control.1. The main species of thrips in mango orchards were Thrips hawaiiensis(Morgan), Thysanoptera Haliday, Scirtothrips dorsalis(Hood). There was a peak of T. hawaiiensis population from middle-April to early-July. The population of T. Haliday had a peak from later-April and early-July. But there were two peak of S. dorsalis population in April to June, later-September to early-October.2. Rearing method of T. hawaiiensis (Morgan) with a diet of pollen and honey solution was succeed. The results showed that the period of different development stages shortened with the temperature increasement, the survival rates from egg hatch to adult were higher in 25℃, it was 96.7%.3. The preference of T. hawaiiensis (Morgan) to differents colors was screened, of which the blue color with the wavelength of 466nm, was the most attractive one to T. hawaiiensis based on the results, which could be used in T. hawaiiensis control and population monitoring placed at 2m height and 40 traps per 667m2for density.4. The role of floral scents in host location by thrips was investigated by experiment in the field. The scent of methyl anthranilate significantly increased the catches of T. hawaiiensis than others, and blue insect-attracting board combined with lure increased the catches of T. hawaiiensis than individually. The paper showed the method of insect-attracting board, Traps with volatile chemicals, insect-attracting board combined with volatiles can be widely used in mango orchards for T. hawaiiensis monitoring and control-trapping. The blue insect-attracting board could be used in T. hawaiiensis control and population monitoring. |
