Corn is not only the main food crops in China and even in the world, but also asource of high quality animal feed and pharmaceutical, chemical rawmaterials.Threshing is a key part of corn processing quality,which determines theextent of the damage of corn kernels.The damage of corn kernels effect the storagecorn grain. Corn kernels suffered damage have low germination rate, easy mold,insects, decay and easily broken, not only reduced the economic value, but also has anon negligible effect on the yield and quality of corn, and therefore reducing thedegree of damage in corn kernels threshing process has become more and moreimportant.At present the studies on corn ear threshing process at home and abroad, mostlytook the test method which has time-consuming and limited effect, or used continuousmechanics method to analysis the whole ear threshing process, and can not reveal theinternal mechanism of maize grain detachment.In this paper, we take the finite elementmethod to explore ear of corn kernels threshing process, through the study of the gaptrend of corn ear analysis, modeling the whole ear of corn and discrete process ofanalyzing the impact of the middle ear of corn,giving "Cycle power circle" of declinelaw between corn ear kernels, and set up a new way for discussion on the threshingcharacteristics of corn ear kernels and optimization design of thresher.This paperprovides a theoretical and experimental basis for the study of low damage cornthresher, have important theoretical and practical value.This research is part of NSFC-Henan joint personnel training funded projects which called "corn seed from lowdamage mechanism bionic research".The main work and conclusions of this paper areas follows:(1) We use the advanced stereo microscope and image processing techniques tostudy the microscopic analysis of the gap changes in the different classification of water between different parts of the corn ear grain (including cross-grain between twoadjacent longitudinal section) and gaps, husk, stalk, corn cobs, grain interactions anddependencies and then take arrangement law and give "cycle power circle" decay lawbetween corn ear kernels.(2) With drop-shock test platform to take randomized trials of multiple factors onthe ease of kernels discrete in corn ear threshing process and grain injury of differentpart under different head impact in different varieties and different water-grading ofcorn ear kernels,to get the best way about corn ear discrete effects, and get the wedgeimpact head most be suitable for threshing grain corn ear under the same conditions.(3) Using finite element analysis method and its software to study dynamiccontact characteristics of corn ear kernel,in order to get the rules and characteristics ofthe contact stress and strain of corn ear.
