In this study, the Chinese mini-core collection germplasms were sown in roundplastic pots at Luoyang Academy of Agriculture and Forestry Science. In order toevaluate the changes of root dry weight and secondary root number in differentvarieties. Aimed to find the root of SSR loci and excellent allelic variation. The mainresults were as follows:1. There were large variances in RDW of mini-core collection germplasms(P<0.01). The average of RDW was1.08g. The value ranged from0.49g to2.12g.There were13varieties bigger than1.50g. The RDW of ’Baidongmai’, a local variety,was biggest, and the RDW was1.93g. The RDW of ’Sanyuehuang’, a local variety,was1.92g, and the RDW of ’Aifeng three ’ was1.74g. There were three foreignvarieties‘Odessa’、‘Villa Glori’ and ‘Atlas66’ also reached maximal RDW. TheirRDW were1.62g,1.56g and1.52g. Analyzing the RDW in different areas andsources; the RDW of the wheat of the middle and lower Yangtze River and the foreignvarieties was biggest. The RDW of bred varieties in North area and Huanghuai areawas less than local varieties.2. There were large variances in SRN of mini-core collection germplasms(P<0.01). The average of SRN is37branches. The value ranged from19branches to62branches. There were12varieties’ SRN more than37branches. The SRN of’Zaowutioan’ which was local variety was most, and the SRN was62branches. TheSRN of ’Zhongyou9507’,‘Syuehuang’ and Kabka3was61branches. The SRN of’Zhongyou9507’ and ‘Aifeng3’ which were Chinese local varieties was more than55branches, The SRN of ‘Kabka3’ and ‘red wheat’ which were foreign varieties wasmore than55branches. Analyzing the SRN in different areas and sources; the SRN of the foreign varieties was most. The SRN of the middle and lower reaches of theYangtze River area was the most in Chinese local varieties. The SRN of bred varietiesin North area and the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River area was less thanlocal varieties, but The SRN of bred varieties in huanghuai area was more than localvarieties.3. Two hundred and seventeen pairs of SSR markers for the wheat192groupswere genotyped. A total of30marker loci associated with the RDW and SRN. Therewere18marker loci associated with RDW in these markers, and there were16markerloci associated with SRN. Among the markers had4markers associated with bothRDW and SRN. These quality traits might play important roles in wheat breeding.
