As one of the most widespread and important soil microorganism, arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi(AMF) play a role of importance in the processe of plants’growth and development. Gigasporalean arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi was payed more and more attention as a member of AMF whose morphological characteristics can be observed obviously. Moreover much researches on exploitation of AMF have been done at present. Therefore it is meaningful greatly to take an investigation on local AMF resource for deeply exploitation of AMF.Hainan island is located at tropics and possess a large number of creatures. In this research, on the one hand, soil samples at the rhizosphere of common plants on the island were collected for spore isolation according to wet-sieving followed by flotation-centrifugation in50%sucrose.Then spores of Gigasporalean AMF were observed and identified by spore morphological characteristics. On the other hand, soil samples at the rhizosphere of Cocos nucifera were collected monthly in five times continuously and fixedly. Then spores richness and density of Gigasporalean AMF were counted. The resultes were shown as follow:Twenty-six species belonging to7genera, i.e. one of the Fuscutata, one of the Cetraspora, seven of the Dentiscutata, seven species of the Gigaspora, one of the Quatunica, six of the Racocetra and three of the Scutellospora, were isolated and identified in present investigation.Thereinto fifteen species were recorded newly in Hainan island, and Dentiscutata hawaiiensis、Dentiscutata nigerita were new recordes in China. The difference of spore density of Gigasporalean AMF in soil samples:loamy soil>volcanic rock weathering soil>sandy loam soil>coastal saline alkali soil>sand.Seasonal changes in the spores richness and density of Gigasporalean AMF associated with Cocos nucifera were obvious, which increased firstly and reduced lastly.
