| The objective of this study was to investigate the effects of spraying on growth performance, slaughter performance and down quality in goslings what was on the basis of the dabble habits of Yangzhou geese, to proivde reference for the intensive breeding goose. The objective of this study was to investigate the growth performance and slaughter performance and down quality in5-10weeks Yangzhou geese. A total of3005-week-old healthy male Yangzhou geese with similar body weight were randomly allocated into5groups with5replicates per treatment and12geese per replicate.5treatment groups including control group, group â… , group â…¡, group â…¢, group â…£. It was no spraying in control group, spraying method in group â… , with3times a day, each time spraying5minutes first,10minutes intermission later, re-spray5minutes. Group â…¡ was3times a day too, continuous spraying method was to spray10minutes at a time, Spraying method in groupâ…¢, with3times a day, each time spraying15minutes first,10minutes intermission later, re-spray15minutes. Group â…£ was3times a day too, continuous spraying method was to spray30minutes at a time. The experiment lasted for6weeks. The results showed as follows:1. Groupâ…¢ and group â…£ significantly decreased the body weight of Yangzhou geese at the age of70-day-old, and significantly decreased the average daily gain and average daily feed intake of Yangzhou geese at the age of70-day-old (P<0.01),significantly increased the feed/gain of Yangzhou geese at the age of70-day-old (P<0.01).There were no significantly difference in the average daily gain, average daily feed intake, feed/gain of Yangzhou geese at the age of70-day-old(P>0.05). Compared with the control group, the other groups significantly increased leg muscle percentage of Yangzhou geese at the age of70-day-old (P<0.05), significantly decreased the percentage of abdominal fat(P<0.05).2. Group â…¢ and groupIV significantly increased higher than the other groups in kilo-down weight and down length which in the chest, abdomen, back and neck of Yangzhou geese at the age of10weeks(P<0.014), group â… and group â…¡ significantly increased than the control group in kilo-down weight and down length which in the chest, abdomen, back and neck of Yangzhou geese at the age of10weeks(P<0.01), but in legs(P>0.05). There was no significantly difference in kilo-down weight and down length between group â… and group â…¡ or group â…¢and group â…£ (P>0.05). There was no significantly difference in goose’s down diameter among all groups(P>0.05). Overall, group â…¢ and group IV had the highest kilo-down weight, the longest down length, the highest down percentage, group â… and group â…¡ followed, the control group was the worst.3. Compared with the control group, the other groups significantly creased fat content, transparency and filling power of down in Yangzhou geese at the age of10weeks(P<0.05or P<0.01), group â…¢ and groupIV had the lowest oxygen consumption index, which significantly increased the other groups(P<0.01), group â… and group â…¢ significantly increased the control group(P<0.01). There was no significantly difference in down’s rate of water content among all groups(P>0.05). Group â… was better than group â…¢ in fat content, transparency and oxygen consumption index, group â…¢ was better than group IV in fat content, transparency and oxygen consumption index too, both of them had significant differences(P<0.05).So the proper spraying had little effect on the growth of geese at the age of70-day-old, and spraying could help to improve the slaughter performance of geese at the age of70-day-old, when could help to improve the down quality. |
