Cd pollution is one of the most harmful soil pollution to our country. It directly interfered with the normal operation of the ecological environment and the human’s daily life, it also has been a worldwide problem to be solved urgently. The phytoremediation has been praised as a kind of green repair technology for its environmental friendly, high efficient, low cost, high potential and the advantages of no secondary pollution, so there has been growing attention on it. But due to the metal pollution problem has been becoming more serious, finding out a better hyperaccumulation plants is still an important task for the present study. C. roseus was selected as the experimental material because of the widely cultivated in China, tenacious vitality and the medicinal value. We use the hydroponic culture system to study the influence of different concentration of Cd to C. roseus. In addition, the effects of ethylene (Eth), Zn, Ca and Cu on C. roseus under Cd stress were also investigated. Under Cd stress, Cd can be absorbed by C. roseus. Cd could inhibit photosynthesis by damaging the structure of chloroplast, increasing the content of H2O2and MDA which would induce oxidative stress, and promoting the accumulation of indoles alkaloids. After applying Eth, Cu, Zn and Ca under Cd stress, the Cd conect in plants has been reduced significantly and stress induced by Cd poison to C. roseus were also decreased. The results showed that,1.25uM Cu displayed greatest effects to C. roseus under low concentration of Cd pollution, whereas Zn has its greatest effects to medium concentration of Cd pollution and Ca for the high concentration of Cd pollution. Besides, Eth can promote more output of vinblastine than those of plants under Cd stress only. So, this approach promotes the absorption of C. roseus to more Cd,showing the potential about the use of phytoremediation methods to control high concentration of heavy metal pollution, it also has far-reaching significance to improve soil pollution and anti-cancer drugs alkaloid production.
