Design And Renovation Of Irrigation And Drainage Channels In Ningxia

Channel impermeable lining means engineering measures pouring or masonry surface inthe channel armor layer, in order to reduce water leakage channel loss and improve canalwater utilization coefficient. Channel impermeable lining had a good effect on improvingwater use efficiency, increasing impermeability, frost resistance and stability of Channelimpermeable lining. It was an important part of irrigation and drainage projects.This article describes the current situation in Ningxia channels impermeable liningproject, problems existing, discussed factors that needed to be considered in Ningxiachannels when designing different channels, and advantages and disadvantages in differentsectional shape style, and appropriation of different sectional shape style; channels principlesand channel anti-frost heaving measures;new canal lining material and lining forms, problemsthat needed to be attention in channel construction and operation management and so on.This article describes the factors needed to be considered in the planning, design,construction, operation and management of integrated channel lining; it also provided ideasand suggestions for the channel design, channel construction and channel management. Themain conclusions included:(1)Ningxia was poor in water,both in quality and quantity,and canal water use coefficientwas low.Channel lining canal reconstruction project can improve water use efficiency andimprove the anti-frost heaving channel capacity, improve the safety factor of channels, reducethe cost of channel management, channel lining renovation project in Ningxia was of greatnecessary.(2)Different channels had different sections in the form, and local hydrology, geology,climate and other factors should be comprehensive considered to select the appropriatesection of the form.Typically, curved bottom and curved trapezoidal toe trapezoidalcross-section is suitable for medium-sized channels, U-channels was suitable for smallchannels because of good water conditions and small covers.(3)Frost heave damage in irrigation was one of the main reasons of damage in Ningxia.Prevention measures included soil Replacement base, additional insulation measures, adding reinforced and other measures.
