In this study,5-6years old high spindle, slender spindle, free spindle and Y-trellis treeshapes of ‘Yuhua Fuji’ and ‘Li gala’ in Guan Cun Village had been mocked, combined withthe measurement of specific leaf weight and fruit quality parameters, to explore theinfluences of different species and tree shapes on the sunlight utilization and fruit quality. A13-year old high spindle of ’Fuji’ had also been mocked, in order to explore the adequatebranches amount of fruit trees in their full productive age. The results are as follows:1.Specific leaf weight of different species and tree shapesDiverse tree shapes of the same variety had no significant difference in specific leafweight, but specific leaf weight of some branches had striking difference which differed invarieties.Among diverse tree shapes of both varieties, specific leaf weight of PL had themost significant difference.2.Leaf angles of different species and tree shapesEither the elevation angle or azimuth angle distribution accorded with the rule thatthere was a little distribution in the interval of big absolute values and a large distribution inthe interval of small absolute values.Among different tree shapes of both varieties, there areapproximately70%leaf elevation angles distributed in [-45o,45o] and about50%distributedin [-30o,30o].Leaf elevation angle in two main branches Y-trellis had greater difference thanspindle.3.Fruit enlargement rules of different speices and tree shapesThe diameter enlargement laws of different species and tree shapes were the same. There were three rapid growth periods in the measured cycle—mid-June, mid-July andearly August. However, the longitudinal diameter enlargement laws differed in species andtree shapes.Through the whole growth cycle, the cumulative growth of diameter was greaterthan longitudinal diameter.4.Change of STAR based on branch amountWith the increase of branch amount, total STAR and STAR of various branches did notincrease continuously. When branch amount reached to some extent, total STAR and STARof branches might decrease.5.STAR of different species and tree shapes and their correlationship STAR of the same branch amount differed in varieties, structures and topology.Meanwhile, the effect of variety was larger on STAR than tree shapes. In the middle andlower part of the tree, the STAR of ‘Yuhua Fuji’ was in the range of0.15-0.20while ‘Ligala’ was in the range of0.20-0.26.The less self-shading in branches, the higher the STAR ofidentical branches.
