Coal gangue is a coal production of solid waste generated in the process, that the mining process and coal washery discharged waste rock in the production process, it is one of the main mining environmental pollution and deterioration. As the inevitable product of the process, it is one of the important reasons for coal mining areas, environmental pollution and deterioration. Scholars try to use it as a renewable resource, and research planting growth in coal gangue hill, site improvements, and other aspects of plant ecological effects.Based on the coal gangue matrix soil from New Three Mine of Fengfeng Group Corporation were measured to understand the physical characteristics, infiltration characteristics, water characteristic curve, and the pot experiment of coal gangue and mixing matrix, the following conclusions, provide a theoretical basis for the reclamation and ecological reconstruction of coal gangue hill.(1) Weathered gangue is less moisture, greater bulk density, lower porosity, poorer structural, poorer water holding. Soil moisture and porosity of Coal gangue mixed matrix increase with the proportion of doping soil increases; density gradually decrease with the proportion of doping soil increasing.(2) The accumulative infiltration and wetting front of different processing gangue matrix soil were tended to increase with time. The infiltration rate of gangue matrix in different slope positions gradually increases with gravel and stones content increased. Infiltration rate of coal gangue mixed with clay soil matrix decreases rapidly with the proportion of clay increased.(3) Kostiakov and Philip infiltration model can fit well with different gangue matrix soil cumulative infiltration process, empathy, the power function can also fit well with the wetting front its course over time.(4) Different slope positions of gangue matrix soil, with increasing gravel content, increase the number of macroporosity, once they reach a certain suction, the water in these macroporosity will be quickly emptied, a sharp decline in soil moisture, slope of the curve is relatively steep. Gangue matrix soil mixed with soil in different proportions, with the increase in the proportion of mixed soil, silt and sand content relative increase, when the suction increases, soil moisture decrease relatively slow. (5) Lolium perenne growing under different processing gangue matrix soil without fertilization, equal temperature, equal light, and equal water supply are not ideal. But plant height and biological values of Lolium perenne in mixed with the soil matrix gangue still higher than weathered gangue value. And with the increase in the proportion of mixed soil, the greater plant height and biological values of Lolium perenne. This shows that Lolium perenne under different treatment of gangue matrix have a certain adaptability, but gangue matrix mixed with the soil better adaptability.
