Morris water maze is a classical behavior experiment to evaluate thelearning and memory ability of the animals. Objective: Using morris watermaze experiment to detect the animals’ learning and memory ability afterthe treatment with drugs, and provide a screen platform to improve thelearning and memory relevant new drugs. Method: Scopolamine candamage the animals’ learning and memory ability but donepezil canimprove it, so we used Donepezil to cure the animals which have treatedwith Scopolamine, then detected the learning and memory ability with themorris water maze. Result: In the place navigation experiment, the averageelapsed time of treatment group showed a trend of decrease, but nostatistical difference (P>0.05) compared with control group at1-3days. Theescape latency of treatment group was significantly less than control group, with statistical difference (P<0.05) since4th day treatment; In the spatialprobe experiment, the time of through the platform position of treatmentgroup was significantly more than control group, with significant difference(P<0.01); the percentage of swimming distance of treatment group showedno statistical difference (P>0.05) compare with control group in the targetquadrant. But the ratio of swimming time and distance was higher thancontrol group, with statistical difference (P<0.05). Conclusion: Donepezilcan reduce the activity of AchE in brain tissues, and improve the learningand memory ability of the animal models which memory declined ordamaged.Significance: Using donepezil as a positive control and the morriswater maze as a tool, we can provide a great platform to screen the drugsthat can reduce the AchE.
