Although the water content in the Earth’s soil moisture is only a small part, but soilmoisture meteorological there is a huge influence. Therefore, timely accessing to soilmoisture values are of great helpful to the study of hydrology, meteorology, agriculturalscience. And by the forward model soil moisture retrieval method, is recognized as one ofthe most effective means of detection. In this article, the author designed a Matlab procedure caculating soil’s brightnesstemperature based on the algorithm of forward model of L_band soil emissivity.First, the author introduced the algorithm of forward model of L_band soil emissivity.According to this algorithm, the author expressed the design of this Matlab program. Itincludes the requirement, the design of the modules, and each module’s simulation results. The program consists of three major modules, which are land brightness temperaturecalculation module, open water brightness temperature calculation module and vegetationbrightness temperature calculation module. Each module also contains a large number ofsmall modules for calculating physical parameters they need. After programming is completed, in order to learn the accuracy of the calculationprocedure, in this paper, by using the SMOS L1C, L2and auxiliary data, the Matlabsimulation program calculates the brightness temperature of a track, and the results werecompared to the results of official procedures and the SMOS L1C measured results toverify the accuracy of calculation procedure. At last, the author analyzed the impact of soil moisture, clay content, leaf area indexand vegetation water content on the brightness temperature using Matlab procedures.
