Puelia is a new type of energy grasses in recent years, with an increase in the severity of environmental pollution. In China, Puelia cultivation has also been widely promoted, for Puelia is easily lived and require low growth conditions, Its planting area increased rapidly. However Puelia harvest technology is low, high harvesting costs, which directly influence and restrict the development production of Puelia. Research of Puelia stalk mechanical properties can provide theoretical guidance for the cutting machine design, and dynamic simulation of Puelia stalk cutting process is simulated by the carrier in case of stress and strain. As a key part of the Puelia harvesting cutter machinery, which directly affects the efficiency and quality of grass cutting. Thus, designing a suitable cutter is the key to solve the problem.Using the mechanical measurement methods, testing the tensile, compression, bending mechanical performance parameters of the Puelia stem. Based on moving least squares(MLS) to analysis the mechanical properties of curves which were analyzed to determine and obtain the Puelia stems stalk tensile, compression, bending elastic modulus and other parameters. Then get mechanical material model parameter values of the Puelia stalk, and establish Puelia stalk material constitutive equation.Have analyzed the characteristics of harvesting Puelia stem and its cutting theory and have studied method of its mechanism design which is suitable for Puelia stem cutting mechanism. The key components of the cutting mechanism was designed to draw its three-dimensional structure, and have established virtual mechanical model of the cutting tool and the stalk.The use of ANSYS/LS-DYNA, combined with the actual production practice of cutting a stalk, Puelia process dynamics finite element simulation have been proceeded to acquire the Puelia stalk stress- strain contours during the cutting process and the result of history curve analysis about the cutter speed-acceleration, And the different cutting speed, feed, the forces of different diameters were analyzed to obtain the relative optimization parameters for stem cutting to provide a theoretical basis.
