Land consolidation has development from the pure pursuit increase the quantity of cultivated land to the direction of pay attention to improve cultivated land quality and ecological environment protection after 10 years of exploration and development since China implement the true sense of the land consolidation at the late 90 s of 20 th century. Songnen Plain is main grain strategic reserve area of China, is also the concentrated distribution area of saline-alkali soil. The promotion and implementation of the land consolidation major projects in Western Jilin Province in 2007 provides an effective way for the comprehensive treatment of saline-alkali land. This paper selects Zhenlai County land consolidation project area of Western Songnen Plain as the study area, analyzed land use and landscape pattern changes of the study, soil spatial variability and their spatial corresponding relationships. The main conclusions are as follows:(1) The change of land use structure and landscape pattern before and after land consolidation in the study area were compared and analyzed. The result show that farmland and saline-alkaline land is the main land use types before land consolidation, respectively accounted for 35.39% and 51.94% of the total land area of the study area; the percentage of farmland area increased to 80.88% and saline-alkali land area ratio decreased to 7.54% after land consolidation; while the woodland, grassland, other land area decreased and wetland area increased. Due to the impact of human disturbance, the number of patches increased, the degree of landscape fragmentation becomes larger, the landscape diversity decreased and the complexity of landscape structure tends to decrease in the study area before and after the land consolidation.(2) The basic statistical characteristics and spatial variation of soil properties of land consolidation area were studied. The result show that the soil salinization type is mainly moderate alkaline soil, soil organic matter and cation exchange capacity in line with the four primary and secondary standard of soil fertility respectively. Soil spatial variability of the study area is influenced by the combined effect of the structural factors and random factors, and it is mainly influenced by the random factor such as artificial interference rejection of land consolidation in the study area. The statistical analysis showed that the soil properties of the study area had medium or strong spatial correlation, and varied from 554 to 2203 meters. Each soil attribute index has the characteristic of spatial distribution, and its spatial distribution features are related to the factors of land use types and the biological engineering measures of land consolidation.(3) The spatial relationship of soil attribute index and land use type was studied. The results showed that in 0-20 and > 20-40 cm soil, newly increased cultivated land soil quality is generally higher than saline alkali land, but it is still below the original cultivated land, it suggest that natural condition of farming is more effective to improved saline-alkali land than the land consolidation relative measure. Canonical correspondence analysis results showed that soil physical and chemical properties and ionic composition had significant correlation with plot type distribution. Plot type changed from saline-alkali land to newly-added cultivated land was the process of soil salinization indices decreasing and fertility indices rising in the level of soil physical and chemical properties, and also the process of bicarbonate ion, carbonate ion and sodium ion content reduction in the level of soil ionic composition. Overall, the land consolidation project in Western Songnen Plain could improve salinity soil effectively, but the soil quality of newly-added cultivated land is still lower than the original cultivated land. Therefore, we suggest to improve salinity soil better through improvement of irrigation and drainage system, reasonable land leveling measure and scientific farming.
