The test was to investigate the effects of different water level and nitrogen supply on growth indexes, biomass index, water use efficiency and nitrogen use efficiency of winter wheat in order to provide advising of irrigation and fertilization method in Jinghuiqu irrigation district. The treatment was conducted in Jinghuiqu irrigation district and field plot experiments were conducted in this field to investigate the effect of different irrigation levels(W90, 90 mm; W120, 120 mm) and fertilization levels(base fertilizer: 60 kg/hm2, 120 kg/hm2; top dressing: 0 kg N/hm2, 60 kg N/hm2, 120 kg N/hm2. That is N60/0, N60/60, N60/120; N120/0, N120/60, N120/120) on yield, nitrogen accumulation amount of differe nt parts and nitrogen use efficiency of winter wheat. The test obtaines the following results:(1) Water is an essential factor for the growth of winter wheat, while irrigation is the important method to provide water supplying for winter wheat. Irrigatio n can promote the growth and development of winter wheat. by increasing plant height, green leaf area and coverage degree, irrigation can improve biomass index and yield of winter wheat to increase the use of nitrogen in soil. Under the test condition, for the reason of increase of irrigation, compared with treatment of W90, treatment of W120 has a higher 0~200 cm soil water storage. The W120 has lower growth indexes such as plant height, green leaf area and coverage degree. Compared to W90, treatment W120 has lower biomass index, nitrogen accumulation amount in plant and residual NO3--N in soil. The water consumption of the whole stages, water use efficiency and agronomic nitrogen efficiency in treatment W120 is lower than W90 treatment. So under the test condition, we should use the irrigation of 90 mm.(2) Nitrogen is also an essential factor for the growth of winter wheat, which has an important effect on growth and development of winter wheat. Under the test condition, with increasing of nitrogen rate, residual NO3--N in soil of different treatments is increasing. Not only the plant height, green leaf area and coverage degree, but also the biomass index and nitrogen accumulation amount in plant increase with the increasing nitrogen rate. With the increase of nitrogen rate, the water consumption decreases, while the water use efficiency increases. For the reason of peak appears in the treatment of 180 kg/hm2 nitrogen rate and 240 kg/hm2 nitrogen rate, we should use the nitrogen rate of 180 kg/hm2 under the test condition.(3) For the reason of high irrigation in experimental plot, the use of fast released fertilizer and little absorption and utilization of nitrogen in the earlier stage of winter wheat, treatment N60/120 has higher plant height, green leaf area, coverage degree, biomass index and yield compared with treatment N120/60. Compared with treatment N120/60, treatment N60/120 has lower water consumption, higher water use efficiency, more nitrogen accumulation amount and higher residual NO3--N in soil.Considering yield, nitrogen use efficiency, water use efficiency and so on, we advise to apply the treatment with irrigation at 90 mm, base fertilizer at 60 kg N/hm2 and top dressing at 120 kg N/hm2 under this test condition.
