Besides Paeonial ostii zi ban, paeonial ostii feng dan is the main oil peony, with advantages of easy survival and volume seed. Feng dan’s oil have rich active substances with a positive effect of regulate blood lipids, cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases. In addition, flowers of P. feng dan are suitable for making tea, drinks and natural food additives with treatment process.Its flowers also contains a variety of bioactive substances with effects of antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and anti-aging. In value terms on oil, in production, in order to improve the seed rate, you need remove a lot of flowers in its flowering process.Get rid of a lot of flowers will inevitably lead to waste.Flavonoids are not only regulate flowers’ color but alse make a group of natural antioxidants with role of health and regulatory. Type and content of flavonoids and phenolic compounds determines the antioxidant activity. Therefore, in order to improve P. feng dan the utilization value, it is necessary to explor P. feng dan’s pigment composition and its antioxidation.However, we need reasonable methodological approach to analysis flavonoids and antioxidant activity in different periods petals relevaition.Study are more concentrated in biological activity of roots and seeds, have not been reported to its phenolic compounds and antioxidant.To provide a theoretical basis for cultivar improvement and to determine their role in breeding,pigments of P. feng dan flowers were qualitatively identified using hight performance liquid chromatography(HPLC),the UV-visible spectrophotometer, thin layer chromatography(TLC) and high performance liquid chromatography-diode array detector(HPLC-DAD).Identified two kinds of flavonoids, three kinds of flavonols and four kinds of phenolic compounds,none of anthocyanin substances.Rutin, quercetin, apigenin as main pigment affect its petals antioxidant activity. ABTS,DPPH and copper ion reducing antioxidant power assays were used to evahlate in vitro antioxidant activity of the flower.Measured the content of total polyphenol and total flavone.Correlation between polyphenol content flavone content and antioxidant capacity was analyzed.There are significant negative correlation with DPPH, ABTS and total phenolic.without the total flavonoid have significant correlation.These anti-oxidation evaluation system has a significant correlation with Cu2+ reduction proficiency.The first period have the highest antioxidant activity and antioxidant activity decrease with growing. scavenging rate(ABTS+) > scavenging rate(DPPH). The results show that first period of P. feng dan have the highest antioxidant activity,which Rutin, Quercetin is relatively higher.So rutin, quercetin maybe exist main substance to affect antioxidant activity..Comparison of the antioxidant capacity of different growing, the second period is lower than the first period,but it still remain relatively higher levels. The flower’s quality of second period is more than the first period, so we can get rid second period flower to achieve higher efficiency.
