The Investigation And Analysis On Walnut Resource Survey In Hebei Province

In this study, using walnut genetic resources of 21 counties(city, area) in hebei province as experimental materials,through determination of nuts shape index(diameters of longitudinal, transverse and edge, single fruit weight, shell thickness, kernel, etc) and the nutrient content of seeds(fat, protein) and the investigation of the indicators such as factors of habitat(Place names, including little place names, user principal names, habitat, tree age,operation and management),growth trait(tree vigor,tree gesture,tree shape,height of tree,canopy,trunk height, diameter at breast height, etc), characteristics of leaf and fruit,flowering fruit bearing stage, breeding status(fruit branch rate, production situation, the shape, size, seeds, color, etc),we draw the following conclusions:(1):The walnut resources were rich and widely distributed in Hebei province. And there was concentrated distribution area, and has regional characteristics.Vertical distribution range was from 20 m to 1400 m above altitude. Latitudinal distribution was from N36”35’ where was Tianqiao village in Handan to N40”29’ where was xionglong couty in Chengde. Longitude distribution was from E113”50’ where was nanxin village of Fuping in Baoding to E119”35’where was caozhuying town of Funing in Qinhuangdao.(2) Walnut resources in Hebei province were adaptable and can grow on land mainly of granite, limestone and gneiss. Most of walnut resources neglect of management but have strong tree vigor and grow in the thin layers of 30-80 cm and can grow both on sunny slope,cloudy slope and gap between two mountains.(3)Trees were open and moderate which height was concentrate from 9m to 16 m.The yield of single twig was 1 to 2. More than one hundred years of walnut was about a third of the surveyed resources which were seedling and still very strong.(4) Walnut resources in Hebei province can take the kernel easily and the colour of kernel was Yellowish white, yellow and tawny. Nut shell thickness was between1.120~1.280 mm, shelling percentage of 47.0%~56.0%, fat content between49.36%~73.43%, protein content between 10.56%~19.74%which has good commoditcharacter.(5) The survey found some special traits walnut resources Including white walnuspikes of walnut, cold resistance walnut, late phenological period walnut, long-shapwalnut, walnut of high fat content and so on.
