In this reserch, biological characteristics and resistance levels were studied in the long-term indoor rearing experimental population of Propylea japonica (Thunberg) by recording the biological characteristics as well as determining the enzyme activities of AchE and other types of resistance-related detoxification, which will lay the foundation to establish the standard susceptible population of Propylea japonica for the future. The major conclusions of this reserch were as follows:1. The Intrinsic rate of increase (rm) is0.15,and the average duration of a generation is39.07d, and the growth number of one generation are432.69times more than the previous generation, what’s more, the time required is4.48d to double the number of the population in long-term indoor feeding experimental population of Propylaea japonica on the condition of25±1℃(temperature) and60%-80%RH (humidity). Each duration of developmental periods at25℃was relatively short in the long-term indoor rearing experimental population of Propylaea japonica. One low survival rate of eggs could be seen in the age survival curve in the long-term indoor rearing experimental population of Propylaea japonica, however the rest survival rates of the developmental stages were all pretty high. Although the survival rate of eggs was low, the number of eggs laid at25℃in the long-term indoor rearing experimental population of Propylaea japonica was high.So the final amount of the population number was impressive.2. The activity of AchE was relatively higher, while the activitives of CarE,GSTs and P450were relatively lower in the long-term indoor rearing experimental population of Propylaea japonica comparing with the previous data, indicating that the resistance level of this experimental population declined. In this way susceptible strain of Propylaea japonica to organophosphorus, carbamate and pyrethroid pesticides can be gradually cultivated, which will lay the foundation to establish the standard susceptible population of Propylaea japonica for the future.
