Restoration and reconstruction of three natural ecosystems, namely forest, desert and wetland, have made great progress. However, some puzzles like the ecological carrying capacity, ecological distribution of low imbalance, and degradation of ecological system are still quite serious. Red-soil erosion region is the one of the most serious regional of soil erosion in China, which its ecosystem environment is extremely fragile. In this region, the key constraint of ecological restoration and reconstruction is how to restore vegetation quickly and effectively. While red soil erosive area for afforestation and forest conservation methods received good effects in the past decades, the new planting would fail to survive or become "the little old pine", if the soil Growth environment is poor. Nevertheless, fine herbs can rapidly cover land surface, control the intensity of soil erosion, and gradually improve the harsh eco-habitat. Dicranopteris dichotoma regards as a pioneer vegetation of soil and water conservation and ecological restoration in this region, which has a crucial position in eroded red soil region of south China. A typical representative of this research is by means to choose Zhu River Basin—the southern red soil erosion area as the study area under different years and different position of slope, characteristics of Dicranopteris dichotoma growth and nutrients — carbon, nitrogen, phosphorus in various organs, were measured and analyzed, respectively. Besides, correlation analysis between soil nutrient and Dicranopteris dichotoma was conducted. The research results will deeply understanding of the mechanism and function of Dicranopteris dichotoma on soil and water conservation formulating corresponding measures of ecological restoration and providing practical reference meaning for ecological management and restoration of the southern red soil erosion area. The main results of this study included:1) comparing height, density, coverage and above ground and under ground biomass, total biomass of Dicranopteris dichotoma under law of succession—different years and different slope positions plant, the law of Dicranopteris dichotoma growth characteristics in space and slope positions was revealed. 2) by comparison of different years and different slope positions of governance of Dicranopteris dichotoma in each organ of carbon, nitrogen, phosphorus and the values of C/N, C/P, N/P, the law of Dicranopteris dichotoma in various organs of nutrients and ecological stoichiometry characteristics in time and slope positions was revealed.3) different governance years and different slope position of Dicranopteris dichotoma external growth characteristics of each organ of carbon, nitrogen, phosphorus content, and C/N, C/P, N/P index and soil nutrient of the corresponding correlation analysis, found that external growth characteristics of farmland soil nutrient (plant height, above ground biomass, underground biomass, total biomass) have a significant impact, but for smaller Dicranopteris dichotoma body nutrients and C/N, C/P, N/P effect, low correlation on each.
