Cardiocrinum cathayanum belongs to Liliaceae with important ornamental, edible and medicinal value. This study further researched its habitat in Huangshan and Dabieshan, anhui province, the research materials was also collected. By means of tissue culture, rapid reproduction technology was researched. Through seed germination test, the seed dormancy mechanism and effective methods to break dormancy was studied. Based on the seed dispersal ability research of Cardiocrinum, the dispersal ability and protection status of C. cathayanum was clarified.1. The habitat research showed that the water was sufficient and the soil was fertile in its habitat in Huangshan and Dabieshan. C. cathayanum grew in deciduous broad-leaved forest, mixed with evergreen ingredients. And its individuals were contagiously distributed. The temperate element of both community floristic zones was higher than tropical element. C. cathayanum is a kind of shade plant, while many of them gathered near the edges of gaps or streams, this shows its phototaxis to a certain extent.2. Tissue culture studies found that the best method for scale sterilization was 70% alcohol 40 s + 0.1%HgCl2 6 min. The most suitable culture media for preliminary culture phase was MS+ NAA 0.1 mg/L + 6-BA 0.5 mg/L+ sucrose 30 g/L +agar 6.4 g/L, with the highest induction rate 91.7%. The most suitable culture media for callus proliferation was MS+ 6-BA 1.0 mg/L + NAA 0.05 mg/L + KT 0.1~0.5 mg/L+sucrose 30 g/L+agar 6.4 g/L. MS+6-BA 1.0 mg/L+ NAA 0.05~0.2 mg/L+ TDZ 0.5~1.0 mg/L was the suitable culture media for callus differentiation, but the induction rate was still low. Under light conditions the induction rate of blade was 64.8%, while dark conditions is 3.7%.3. Seed germination test showed that the dormancy types of C. cathayanum seed was morphology physiological dormancy, seeds must go through the temperature sequence from high to low before germination. Under laboratory conditions, the seeds germinated as fast as about six months, 10~11 months earlier than natural conditions. The germination rate of 50℃ warm water pretreated seeds was 78%, was significantly higher than 35 ℃ and 25 ℃ temperature water pretreated seeds. High temperature and low temperature was necessary for seed germination, the germination rate increased with the length of high and low temperature. The embryo grew after high temperature phase, and basically completed in low temperature phase, and seeds started to germinate after a period of low temperature.4. The study of seed dispersal ability indicated that the product of length times width and area of C. cathayanum and C. giganteum seeds showed a significant linear regression relationship, the regression equation was respectively: y = 0.6854 + 11.816 x, R2 = 0.9862 and 0.7305 x + y = 0.7305, R2 = 0.9926. The square root of the wing loading(P) of a fruit of C. cathayanum had significant negative correlation with seed number and fruit width. The P value of C. cathayanum was 0.74±0.057, the P value of C. giganteum and C. cordatum was respectively 0.58 ±0.042 and 0.21±0.032, obeyed the normal distribution. According to the P value, the seed dispersal ability order of the three species was C. cordatum, C. giganteum and C. cathayanum.
