Though modern agriculture is developing rapidly in our country, there exists universal problems such as the backwardness of products and lack of innovation ability in agricultural machinery production and application. So research on the intelligent agricultural machinery is of great significance so as to strengthen agricultural information and intelligent technology and equipment. According to users’ needs, an intellectual monitoring system of combine harvester is designed in this issue. Actually, the system can show the harvesting speed and block shape, also can display and record the harvest date and harvest area in combine harvester operation. The system can monitor the speed of the front roller, back roller, oscillating screen, draught fan and conveyor trough and the volume of accumulated grain in the granary while working.The alarm will ring when the speed is out of the rated range or the grain tank is full. This system aims to improve the combine harvester work efficiency, reduce the grain loss, and prolong the service life of the harvester etc.According to the requirements of the issue, the system designed is mainly divided into three parts: satellite data acquisition part, rotating speed and granary monitoring part, data processing part. Among them, BD/GPS locating system is used in the satellite data acquisition part to gain the data of the combine harvester such as walking time, position and speed. In the rotating speed and granary monitoring part, Hall sensor and diffuse sensor are adopted.The former is used to monitor the speed signal of each shaft,and the latter is used to monitor the granary. A/D conversion is realized by the frequency measurement module and analog acquisition controller. Then the data packaged by Modbus-RTU protocol standard is transmitted to the processor. Data processing is done by industrial computer, using windows XP operation system to summary data, C/C++ to program. QT terminal program development platform is built on Windows XP, added by Open CV and SQLite. The longitude and latitude are extracted according to NMEA-0183 protocol. The land shape and its area are calculated by Gauss- g Lv Ge projection, double translation and ROI and Grid algorithm with Freeman chain code. The display, storage and query functions of the Graphics and data are realized.Through the experimental operation, the less time interval the system gets, the moredensely the points populates, so that the area of field can be precise enough and when 5seconds the error can be controlled around 3%.The system can display the speed of the front roller, back roller, oscillating screen, draught fan and conveyor trough in real-time while simulation walking during experiments. The alarm will ring when the grain is 10 cm to the top of the grain granary. After debugging, the intellectual monitoring system of combine harvester improves the work efficiency, reduces the grain loss and machine wear,and basically meets the needs of users.
